Whisky Magazine, December 1999 SPRINGBANK CV * Mr. Hedley Wright selected the initial blend of seven to eight year old whiskies himself - hence the name 'Chairman's Vat'. This base whisky joined several older whiskies in large barrels to marry and gain complexity. Many of the older Springbanks seem expensive at first, and are perhaps too full-flavored for the uninitiated palate. Because it combines so many ages and styles, CV is a perfect introduction to Springbank. CV has the classic Springbank characteristics, balanced by a lighter, more spirited flavor. It is excellent whisky for drinking any time, floral on the nose with a hint of sweetness developing into a taste of almonds.
