Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack Tennessee Whiskey
DO YOU KNOW JACK? GENTLEMAN JACK, THAT IS. A good name, elegant appearance, distinctive taste and status. Hey, you could spend your life cultivating that kind of character. Or, better yet, just kick back and enjoy a whiskey with those same gentlemanly attributes. Gentleman Jack's smooth character is a result of Mr. Jack's dedication to the old-time charcoal-mellowing method. Unlike any whiskey in the world, Gentleman Jack is charcoal-mellowed twice - once before it's aged in those charred white oak barrels, and once again four years later before it's bottled. It receives what the whiskey tasters here in the Jack Daniel's Hollow call "a double blessing" from the charcoal mellowing process. We think you'll agree the whiskey that emerges from the second charcoal mellowing is one whose refined character and elegant finish make it worthy to be called a Gentleman. Jack knew what a single journey through the charcoal meant to his exceptional whiskey - how the coarsely ground maple charcoal mellowed out the harsh oils and impurities that threatened the smooth, warm character of the whiskey. Imagine what a second trip would do, he mused. And so, throughout his life, he experimented with charcoal mellowing his whiskey twice. The process proved so painstaking, he never crafted enough of his new whiskey to introduce it to the world. Happily, he saved the recipe. In 1988, we finally put our founder's formula into limited production, and Gentleman Jack became the first new whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in more than 100 years. No, our folks in product development have never been known for speed. We think a good thing is worth waiting for and, in the case of Gentleman Jack, I think you'll agree, we were smart to wait and get it right. We also thought it only fitting to bottle it in another of Mr. Jack's creations - a replica of the decorative decanter he made to commemorate his Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey bringing home the gold medal from the 1904 World's Fair.
