Isle Of Jura Delme Evans Special Edition Single Malt Scotch
“My primary aim was to construct an economic distillery within the space available. Everything had to be simple and fall to hand in so remote a location. It was our intention to produce a highland-type malt differing from the peaty stuff produced in 1900. I therefore designed stills to give spirit of a Highland character and we ordered malt which was only lightly peated.”
Bill Delme Evans
Distilled lst November 1988 – Re-racked from American White Oak into a Europa Oloroso Sherry butt. Originally 68.4%V bottled at 59.98%V
COLOUR – Deep mahogany gold.
NOSE – Rich and nutty. Silky notes of intense marzipan and ripe Seville oranges followed by crushed almonds, sweet bananas and mangos, with whispers of treacle toffee.
PALATE –Melodies of citrus fruits, rich caramel and dark Colombian coffee releasing more distinguished notes of aged Oloroso sherry and marmalade treasures.
This sensational single malt from the Island of Jura is a fitting tribute to the memory of a great man – Delme Evans.
Warmly remembered – his spirit still lives on.
