Raise your glass, hike through the rainforest, or surf down a volcano and celebrate Nicaragua's National Independence Day on September 15.
To mark the holiday, Nicaraguans from Managua to Miami, Madrid, Montreal, London and Paris will be hanging blue and white flags from their homes. Toast this occasion with the national drink of Nicaragua, the Flor de Cana Macua, and savor a hand rolled cigar or a handful of dark chocolate.
Flor de Cana is the only rum from Nicaragua, and the world's most awarded. The Macua's succulent lemon and orange juices bring a tart feel to the mouth, while the guava juice adds a refreshing and candid aroma.
